We are the political party that’s dedicated to fighting for families and small business and providing a more helpful, more efficient and less intrusive style of government that focuses on people rather than red tape.

Our organisation is based on three principles: security, individual achievement and strong representation for local communities.

Security:
We believe in security for the nation, local communities and families.

Individual achievement:
We believe in private enterprise, a fair go and a balanced role for Government.

Strong Representation:
We believe in Members of Parliament who are strong local advocates, champions for their regions and come together to act as a team.

The Nationals provide a vital balance in Parliament, upholding family values and fighting for a better quality of service, opportunity and life for all people, from remote inland communities to major regional, coastal and city centres.

With a proud history of achievement spanning more than eighty years, The Nationals have a major influence on policy and are responsible for many landmark initiatives. It was The Nationals that built Queensland - our roads, schools, hospitals, ports, dams and railways. It was The Nationals that made our State the economic powerhouse that it is today. It was the Nationals that were responsible for hospital and medical benefits schemes, the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), the Australian Institute of Sport, the abolition of death and gift duties, the Regional Australia Summit, Natural Heritage Trust, Roads to Recovery Program, the Agriculture - Advancing Australia package, the Supermarket to Asia project and major investments in country and regional health, education and telecommunication services.
